The Assam Rifles have launched an operation against illegal Burmese sugarcane in neighboring Manipur. The Assam Rifles seized two trucks loaded with Burmese sugarcane from Paikoh area of Kamjong district in Manipur in an operation based on intelligence.
115 sacks of Burmese sugarcane were seized from the two trucks. The Assam Rifles said the market value of the sugarcane seized was estimated at Rs 1.140 crore.
The sugarcane was seized while smuggling it into India from Myanmar. The Assam Rifles arrested three smugglers including a woman with sugarcane.
