India's golden boy Neeraj Chopra has made history. He became the first Indian athlete to win gold at the World Athletics Championships. Neeraj aimed for the gold medal in the javelin throw event with a throw of 88.17 meters at the National Athletics Center in Budapest. The final consists of a total of six attempts or rounds and Neeraj had made a throw of 88.17m in the second round. From then on he maintained the lead in the points table and it held until the end.
The Olympic, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Diamond League champion had not only won gold at the World Athletics Championships before the tournament, but now has its gold medal in his pocket. Neeraj had six attempt fouls, 88.17m, 86.32m, 84.64m, 87.73m and 83.98m.
