Mother Teresa is the best example of how to love unselfishly even when you are a stranger. Mother Teresa is said to be the embodiment of compassion, who devoted her entire life to serving people. That great personality was born on this day, August 26, 1910 in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. Mother Teresa has always been remembered for her good deeds. She was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 1980 for her services. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1979 a year earlier. She has also been awarded several major awards.
Mother Teresa's real name was Agnes Gonzalez Boyajiju, but she was given the title of Mother because of her good deeds. Her mother was Nicola Bojaccihu, while her father was Drenfil Bojacci Hu. She had a brother and a sister. Her mother also gave a lot to people. She was inspired to help people by her mother. Her father, Nicola Boyazu, a businessman, died when Teresa was just eight years old. She was the youngest of five siblings. One of her siblings died in childhood. After the passing of her father, her family had gone through considerable financial crisis.
It should be mentioned that Agnes decided to devote her whole life to religion when she was just 18 years old. She then went to the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ireland. Here she learned English. So that she can fulfill her dream of going to India. The instruction of the Sisters of Loreto in India was the English language. After that, Agnes never saw her family.
In 1929, Acnes arrived in India and then stayed in Darjeeling where she began to learn Bengali. She also started teaching near the convent. In the year 1931, Agnes took her first religious vows and changed her name to Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa then spent about 20 years in Calcutta teaching at the Loretta Convent School in Antale. But again and again her mind was melted by the poverty in Calcutta.
The famine in Bengal in the year 1943 and then the subsequent communal violence in the year 1946 had troubled Mother Teresa considerably more. During this time when she was going to Darjeeling. Then a voice came from inside them. She felt as if God was ordering her to serve the poor. From that moment, Mother Teresa gave up teaching altogether and resolved to serve humanity.
In 1950, Mother Teresa received the approval of her Missionaries of Charity from the Vatican. This group of religious sisters was wholeheartedly serving the very poor. Gradually her work spread everywhere. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her services. But during this time, she had refused to take the prize money. Mother Teresa asked the prize money to be donated to the poor of India. Mother Teresa was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, by the Government of India in 1980.
Mother Teresa, who spent her entire life serving the poor in many countries including India, died of a heart attack on September 5, 1997. She had devoted her entire life to serving the orphans, the sick and the poor.
