BRICS Summit: PM Modi arrives in Johannesburg to attend the BRICS summit, warm welcome at the airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa to attend the 15th BRICS summit at around 5.15 pm on Tuesday (August 22).  He was given a warm welcome at the airport.  PM Modi is here at the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa and will stay here from August 22 to 24.
 A large number of members of the Indian community were present at the airport to welcome PM Modi.  During the meeting, Modi greeted the people and shook hands.
 Before leaving for South Africa, PM Modi expressed confidence that the conference would provide a useful opportunity for the member countries to identify areas of future cooperation and review institutional development.
 Besides India, the BRICS group includes Russia, China, Brazil and South Africa.  This is the first face-to-face summit of BRICS leaders since 2019.
