Supreme Court On CJI Fake Quote: The Supreme Court on Monday (August 14) issued a press release denying a post circulating on social media in the name of the Chief Justice.  The post quotes Chief Justice DY Chandrachud as saying that people should oppose the government to protect the Constitution.
The court said in a release that it is taking appropriate action in the case through the police.  The fake post posted a photograph of CJI DY Chandrachud and urged the public to join the protest against the government.
The Supreme Court said in a statement that it has come to the notice that a social media post (inciting the public against the authorities) used file photographs to quote the country's Chief Justice.
It further stated that the post was fake, malicious and mischievous.  No such post has been issued by the Chief Justice nor has he said anything like that.  Appropriate action is being taken in this regard.
The fake post quoted the CJI as saying, "We are doing our best to save the Constitution of India, democracy of India, but your cooperation is also very important."
It further said that all people must unite and take to the streets and demand their rights from the government.  This dictatorial government will scare people, threaten them, but you don't have to be afraid, you have to stay.  Dare and demand accountability from the government, I am with you.
