Mirabai Chanu on Manipur Violence: 'Save the people of Manipur', Olympic champion appeals to Modi and Shah

Star weightlifter Meerabai Chanu, who won India a medal in the Olympics, has made an emotional appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.  He has appealed for an end to the violence in Manipur for nearly three months and restoration of peace.  Meerabai made the appeal to PM Modi and Shah in a video message shared on social media.

 Violence between two communities has been raging in Manipur since the first week of May.  It has claimed more than 140 lives so far.  Meerabai appealed to PM Modi that players are not able to train due to violence in Manipur.  Students are also having trouble studying.  Meerabai has made an impassioned appeal for an end to violence.
