The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) apex council met in Mumbai on Friday. The board took some important decisions related to cricket in this meeting. The BCCI has approved the participation of men's and women's teams for the Hangzhou Asian Games in September-October. "It will be a challenge to field a team for the Asian Games given the busy international schedule, but playing for the nation is also important and the Indian team will play in both categories overcoming the challenges," the BCCI said in a note.
The Asian Games are scheduled to be held from September 23 to October 8. The dates of the Asian Games coincide with the ODI World Cup (October 5-November 19), which will see the second-ranked Indian team travel to China in the men's event. In the women's category, a full strength team will be sent. According to reports, Shikhar Dhawan could captain the Indian men's cricket team in the 2022 Asian Games. The men's event will start on September 28, while the women's event will start on September 19 .
The BCCI also took a big decision regarding the domestic T20 tournament Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The Indian Premier League (IPL)'s controversial 'impact player' rule will now be used in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, which starts on October According to the guidelines, both teams will be allowed to use one 'impact player' in each match. However, this is not mandatory.
