The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections have been postponed. The Guwahati High Court ordered the postponement of the polls. The court ruled on the basis of a case filed by the Assam Wrestling Association.
The election was scheduled for July 11.The election must be postponed until the next court hearing.
The Assam Wrestling Association has not been recognized despite the application. There are still no wrestlers from Assam to represent Assam. Wrestlers from Assam represent others in national competitions. The union had applied for recognition.
The Assam Wrestling Association is deprived of national level competitions in Assam. Brijbhushan Charan Singh is the current President of the Wrestling Federation of India.
