10 lakh each to families of victims of violence in Manipur

Manipur Director General of Police transferred in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.  Manipur Police Director General IPS officer P Dongel has been transferred as OSD of the Home Department.  IPS officer Rajiv Singh has been appointed as the new Director General of the state.
 Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Manipur, made several important remarks to reporters before flying to Delhi today.  He told reporters that the same panel would be formed to probe the violence in Manipur.
 The panel will be headed by the retired Chief Justice of the High Court.  The CBI will probe a total of six cases related to the violence.
 He also announced assistance to the families of those killed in the violence in the state.  The Center will provide one-time assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the victims of the violence and the Manipur government will also provide one-time assistance of Rs 5 lakh each.
