There is a shocking news from China. According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, Chinese scientists are drilling a hole 10,000 meters (32,808 feet) deep in the Earth's crust. Scientists are making this hole in China's Xinjiang province. Xinjiang is considered an oil rich region. According to the report, the thin shaft will pierce more than 10 continental or rock layers to reach the Cretaceous system in the Earth’s crust.
The report also states that scientists who are drilling holes to the meaning crust. The rock found in that Earth Crust is about 145 million years old. The age of the rock has been calculated with the help of rock dating.
The deepest man-made hole on Earth ever is the Russian Cola Superdeep Borehole. It has a depth of 12,262 meters or 40,230 feet. After 20 years of drilling, the Cola Superdeep borehole was built in 1989.
