Kamrup (M), Second Most Accident-Prone Area In Assam

Kamrup (M) district has emerged as the second most accident-prone area in Assam, according to the recent report titled, “District-wise Road Safety Action Plan” which was released on May 10 to the Lead Agency for Road Safety, Government of  Assam.
Kamrup (M) district reported a total of 155 fatal crashes, 272 serious injury crashes, and 117 minor injury crashes.  Shockingly, these incidents resulted in a staggering loss of 160 lives and left 348 individuals with severe injuries, emphasizing the urgent need for effective preventive measures.
 The critical police station jurisdictions identified in Kamrup (M) district include Basistha Police Station, Dispur Police Station, and Garchuk Police Station.
 These areas have been identified as key locations where crash incidents frequently occur, warranting increased attention and enforcement.
 Furthermore, several critical roads have been identified as contributing factors to the high crash rate.
 National Highway 27 (NH-27), GS Road, Assam Trunk Road, and PNGB Road 04 have been marked as areas where accidents are more likely to happen.
