Siddaramaiah was sworn in as Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as Deputy CM in Karnataka today. The Governor also administered oath of office to eight MLAs as Cabinet Ministers. The results of the Karnataka Assembly polls were announced on May 13. The Congress won 135 seats, the BJP 66 and the JDS 19 seats. The deadlock between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar over the CM post in the Congress continued for several days. However, after several days of meetings and persuasion from the high command, the two leaders reached an agreement.
