The Tamil Nadu government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying that the screening of 'The Kerala Story' has not been banned or banned in the state. The Tamil Nadu government said the filmmaker's argument that there were "ban-like conditions" on screening the film in the state was wrong.
In the Supreme Court, the state government said the film was released in 19 multiplexes on May 5, but the theater owners themselves due to the absence of well-known actors, poor performance of the actors and lack of audience has decided to stop the screening of the film.
The Tamil Nadu government says the filmmakers have made false statements that the state government has banned the screening of the film. The state government argues that adequate security arrangements were made for all theaters screening the film. Besides, on May 5, the Director General of Police directed all the Commissioners of Police and District Superintendents of Police of the State to provide adequate security to every cinema hall showing the film.
