The Supreme Court today heard a petition seeking a ban on 'The Kerala Story', which is based on the conversion of girls in Kerala and their links to terrorist organizations like ISIS.  On May 5, the Kerala High Court refused to impose the ban, after which the petitioners moved the Supreme Court.
The Kerala High Court had refused to ban the film, saying the story was inspired by real events.  Justice N Nagresh and Justice Sophie Thomas had commented that the certification board had released the film only after seeing it.  The film contains no offensive comments against any community.  The court questioned the petitioners during the meeting asking, have they seen the film?
The matter was challenged in the Supreme Court after which Kapil Sibal appeared on behalf of the petitioners.  He appealed to a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha to hear the matter soon.  The bench had fixed May 15 for hearing the case.
