A U.S. jury on Tuesday found Donald Trump liable for sexually assaulting and defaming a former magazine columnist and ordered the former president to pay $5 million in damages .  Nine jurors e.  dismissed Jean Carroll's rape charge, but upheld her other complaints in a closely watched civil trial after less than three hours of deliberation.
Carroll, 79, sued Trump last year, alleging he raped her in 1996 in the changing room of the luxury Bergdorf Goodman store on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue.  The former Elle magazine columnist also claimed that Trump had called her a "complete cheater" after going public with the allegations in.
Trump, 76, who is leading the race for the Republican nomination in next year's presidential election, called the case "fraud" and "lies.
