Qualifying the UPSC exam and completing the training of an IPS officer are not easy tasks, but Simala Prasad, an IPS officer from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has achieved this dual feat. She also made her mark by acting in Bollywood films.It is a very challenging task for an IPS officer to act in Bollywood films but 2010 batch IPS officer Simala Prasad has managed to do so. Simala Prasad was born on October 08, 1980 in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Simala had a passion for dance and acting since childhood. She always participated in dance and acting programs during her school days. Simala also acted in several plays during her school and college days. Her father, IAS officer and MP, Dr. Bhagirath Prasad and Maa Mehrunnisa Parvez are well-known writers.
Simala received her early education at St. Joseph's Coed School. She then completed her B.Com from Student for Excellence (IEHE) and her post graduate in Sociology from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. She was awarded a gold medal for topping the examination. Simala then qualified for the MP PSC examination of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Simala Prasad's first posting as DSP was after passing the PSC examination. During this job, she prepared for the UPSC examination and passed in the first attempt. Simala did not resort to any coaching to become an IPS, but managed to clear UPSC through self-study. Simala says she never thought she wanted to join the civil service, but her home environment instilled in her the desire to become an IPS.
Director Zaigham Imam asked for an appointment to meet Simala Prasad during a program in Delhi after seeing her simplicity and beauty. During that meeting, Imam told Simala the script of her film 'Alif' and offered her a role in the film. 'Alif' was Simala's debut film and was released in February Simala then starred in the 2019 film 'Nakkash'.
