NCP Core Committee rejects Sharad Pawar's resignation

National Desk:
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) core committee has rejected the resignation of Sharad Pawar.  The party had been constantly urging Pawar to withdraw his resignation and the leaders did the same today.  It remains to be seen whether Pawar will abide by the committee's decision or reject it himself.  NCP national vice president and core committee convenor Praful Patel tabled a motion rejecting Pawar's resignation, which was rejected by all members of the AKSUR.  An NCP worker also tried to commit suicide by spraying kerosene on himself outside the office.
Within 10 minutes of the start of the NCP meeting, the decision was taken to reject Pawar's resignation.  In other words, the committee had already set the agenda.  All the leaders will now go to persuade Sharad Pawar.  Party leaders believe that with less than a year left in the Lok Sabha elections, it will be difficult for the new party president to make decisions.  The party leader can ask Pawar to stay on as party president and make whatever changes he wants.
