Former Governor of Assam and former Army officer Lt. Gen. Ajay Singh passed away.
 Former Governor Singh passed away after suffering from age-related physical problems.
 Ajay Singh was appointed Governor of Assam in 2003 and served till 2008.
 He was also appointed Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
 Before being appointed Governor of Assam, he served as General Officer Commanding in Chief of the 4th Corps of the Army.
 Lt. Gen. Ajay Singh took part in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars.
