Former EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has become France's new prime minister.  President Emmanuel Macron announced the name of the new prime minister on Friday after 50 days of acting government.  The PTI report said the president and his allies had been trying for weeks to find a new prime minister.  They were looking for a prime minister who could thwart the attempt by Macron's opponents to topple the new government.  Mancron has given PM Michel Barnier major responsibilities, including unifying France and ending the political stalemate following an inconclusive election result .
