India's first virus warfare exercise 'Virus Warfare Exercise' held in Rajasthan

India conducted its first national mock drill ‘Vishanu Yudh Abhyas’ (Virus Warfare Exercise) from August 27 to August 31 in Ajmer district of Rajasthan.  The exercise was conducted under the National Forest Health Mission, aimed at assessing pandemic preparedness by simulating a zoonotic disease outbreak.
 Investigation and identification of viruses responsible for mock outbreaks
 Steps taken to control the spread of disease in human and animal populations
 Independent observers monitored the response, which was mostly found to be prompt and appropriate.  however, certain areas were identified as requiring further improvement.
