Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan. His son Akhilesh Yadav arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive the honor on his behalf. Akhilesh Yadav received the award from President Draupadi Murmu. Mulayam Singh Yadav died in October last year after a long illness.
Akhilesh Yadav had arrived in Delhi on Wednesday morning to receive the honor from his father. Akhilesh Yadav was accompanied by his family members. Former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon in September for various health problems where he breathed his last. Mulayam Singh was then Lok Sabha MP from Mainpuri seat. His daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav has been elected to the Lok Sabha in the elections held after the seat became vacant.
