News Desk:
Former NRC coordinator Pratik Hazela will return to Assam. He has been transferred to Assam after serving in Madhya Pradesh for the past three years. Pratik Hazela was the Principal Secretary and CEO of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis in Madhya Pradesh. Hazela, a resident of Madhya Pradesh and a 1995 Assam-Meghalaya batch cadre IAS officer, was appointed as the NRC coordinator by the court.
The Supreme Court later directed the Center and the Assam government to transfer Hazela to Madhya Pradesh for as long as possible in 2019, fearing any threat to the NRC process.
However, former NRC coordinator Hazela also came under investigation after the NRC processing scam came to light.
The NRC authorities had filed a complaint against Pratik Hazela in the CID.
There are five complaints filed against Hazela in Assam over NRC irregularities.  One of the cases also involves sedition.
Hazela was also removed from the Madhya Pradesh Social Justice Department a day before her return notice.
