FM Nirmala Sitharaman on Petrol-Diesel Price: Big planning is being done by the Central Government regarding the prices of Petrol-Diesel. Today the Finance Minister has given necessary information to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel and to provide relief to the general public. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that petrol and diesel can be brought under GST if the GST Council takes a decision.
The Finance Minister had reached Jaipur to attend the post-budget press conference, where she was answering questions in detail on issues including petrol-diesel prices, inflation, rising repo rates.
In response to a question about bringing petrol and diesel under the purview of GST, he said, "Petrol and diesel can be brought under GST. If the GST Council decides on it." The Central Government has made its intention clear by saying that we will keep it as a commodity under GST. Now the GST Council should take a decision and there should be an 'open discussion'."
