The Union Government has appointed Dr SL Thousen, a senior IPS officer of the Indian Administrative Service, as the Director General (DG) of the force responsible for securing the country's Nepal-Bhutan border.Thoussen was recruited as an IPS cadre in Madhya Pradesh in 1988 from the then North Kachhar Hills district and present Dima Hasao district.Since then, Thawsen has held various positions with distinction.Thousand is currently serving as the Special Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) at its headquarters in Delhi.The Government of India on May 31 promoted the Assamese as the new Director General of the Armed Border Forces (SSB) through departmental directives.
