An international conference on the potential of rivers including river-based trade will be held in Guwahati for the first time. The Asian Confluence will hold the 'River Conference' in Guwahati on May 28 and The third edition of the Asian Confluence River Conference-2022 will be held in Guwahati after Shillong in Meghalaya and Dhaka in Bangladesh.The two-day River Conference will be held in Guwahati to discuss the challenges and possibilities of water management, conservation and resource use among the countries of the Bay of Bengal and Southeast Asia. The conference is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the Act East Policy Affairs Department, Government of Assam, North East Council and other partners.The conference will be attended by several resource persons and experts from home and abroad. Manbendra Singh, Secretary, Act East Policy Affairs Department, Government of Assam and Sabya Sachi Dutta, Executive Director, Asian Confluence said the 'River-3' conference aims to develop a collective approach to regional cooperation with the Bay of Bengal region and South-East Asia accept .
The conference will be officially inaugurated on May 28 at 9.30 am at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati. External affairs minister S Jayshankar, Bangladesh foreign minister A K Abdul momen, Thai foreign affairs minister Don Pramuaina and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma were present on the occasion CM Himanta Biswa Sharma, Industry minister Chandra Mohan Patowary will attend the function.
