India's rapidly shrinking population, The UN report shocked everyone

The United Nations has said that India's population is projected to reach around 1.7 billion in the early 2060s and will decline by 12 per cent thereafter.  But it will nevertheless remain the most populous country in the world throughout the century. The World Population Prospects 2024 report was released on last Thursday.  It said that the world population is expected to continue to grow during the next 50-60 years and will reach 8.2 billion in 2024, while by the mid-2080s the world population will reach about 10.3 billion.
However, after reaching its peak, the world's population is expected to decline gradually to 10.2 billion by the end of the century.  India overtook China last year to become the world's most populous country and will remain No. 1 by  India's population could reach 1.45 billion by 2024, according to the report.
