7.8 magnitude earthquake has rocked Turkiye (Turkey). Two consecutive earthquakes were felt here. The first quake was felt at 4:17 am local time on February 6, followed by a second in central Turkey minutes later. So far, nearly 750 people have died. Relief and rescue work continues. Meanwhile, people are being shifted from the affected areas to safer places. For this, Turkish Airlines has increased the number of flights by including additional flights.
The epicenter was about 33 kilometers (20 miles) from Gaziantep and about 26 kilometers (16 miles) from the city of Nurdgi, the US Geological Survey said. It was centered at a depth of 18 kilometers (11 miles), according to the US Geological Survey. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has also sprung into action after the devastating earthquake. He held a phone conversation with the governors of eight affected provinces to review the situation.
