Russia-Ukraine War: Russia and Ukraine have been fighting for the past 9 months. Russian troops have devastated many parts of Ukraine. The war has claimed thousands of lives. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have claimed that Russia could use Europe's largest nuclear power station, the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, to launch an attack in Ukraine . Ukrainian officials say the Russian military has installed several rocket launchers at Ukraine's shuttered Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, according to news agency AP.
Ukraine's nuclear company Energoatom said in a statement that the Russian military occupying the power plant had placed several grade multiple rocket launchers near one of its six nuclear reactors.
The placement of a rocket launcher near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant has raised fears that Europe's largest nuclear power station could be used as a base to launch attacks into Ukrainian territory and heighten radiation dangers . . . . Ukraine's nuclear company Energoatom said the systems are located on new protective structures secretly built by Russian troops in violation of all requirements for nuclear and radiation safety. However, this claim could not be verified.
Several rocket launchers built near Europe's largest nuclear power station are reportedly capable of firing rockets at a range of up to 40 kilometres. Ukrainian nuclear company Enerhoetom said it could enable the Russian army to strike the opposite bank of the Dnieper River . The plant is in southern Ukrainian territory illegally occupied by the Kremlin. Zaporizzia Station has been under Russian control since the early days of the war.
