The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, as Finance Secretary. This information was given in an official order. Seth, a 1987 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Karnataka cadre, is currently the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs.
Senior bureaucrat Ajay is known for his efficient management experience. Ajay Seth played an important role in formulating the country's economic policies while serving as Secretary in Economic Affairs. Ajay Seth was also awarded the Prime Minister's Administrative Excellence Award in 2013. Ajay Seth has done mechanical engineering from IIT Roorkee. He has an MBA degree from Antonia de Manila University. Seth has more than 30 years of experience in finance, taxation and social sector administration.
