Ajmer's transgender community has made huge preparations for the All India Kinnar Maha Sammelan at a private school in Vaishali Nagar of the city, as community members from various states have started arriving. The 10-day conference, which began with the ritual of Khichdi Tulai on Monday, will discuss issues faced by the third gender.
The conference is being held in the memory of Guru Anita Bai of Gaddipati Saloni Nayak of Ajmer's Kinnar Samaj. The Guru-Shishya tradition in the Kinnar Samaj has been going on since time immemorial and no one is being allowed to enter the conference without the explicit permission of Nayak. For this, founders have been deployed at the entry gates, who will check each guest.
