There is important news for candidates who are thinking of preparing for NEET exam. The Supreme Court has delivered a major verdict. In fact, until now, only candidates who studied regularly could take the NEET examination. But now those studying through distance education will also be able to take the exam. The Supreme Court has lifted the 27-year-old ban.
27 years ago, distance learners were barred from taking the NEET exam. But now students who have passed 10+2 from open schools recognized by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or State Board of Education are eligible to sit for the General Medical College Entrance Examination. A bench of Justice PS Narasimha and Justice Arvind Kumar issued the notice in this regard.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) had approached the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court's decision allowing open school students to sit for the NEET examination. But in this case, the Supreme Court ruled and allowed him to sit for the entrance exam.
