national women's day: National Women's Day is celebrated today

Freedom fighter and poet Sarojini Naidu had said, freedom of the soul will be a part of India only when women are free. Birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu, who raised her voice for women's rights, National Women's Day is celebrated in the country on 13 February and her work for women empowerment is remembered. Born in a Bengali family in Hyderabad in the year 1879, Sarojini Naidu was a multi-talented person. Naidu was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and one of the prominent women leaders of the Indian freedom struggle. Sarojini Naidu was also elected the first President of the Indian National Congress.
