RBI gave a new update, 97.69 percent of ₹ 2,000 notes returned to the banking system

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday (April 1) gave a big update regarding the Rs 2,000 note. The RBI said that 97.69 percent of the Rs 2,000 denomination notes have returned to the banks. Only Rs 8,202 crore worth of Rs 2,000 notes are now with the people. Let us tell you that on May 19, 2023, the RBI had announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 denomination bank notes from circulation.
RBI said in the statement that the total value of Rs 2000 notes in circulation on May 19 was Rs 3.56 lakh crore. It has now come down to Rs 8,202 crore on March 29, 2024. Thus, 97.69 percent of the 2000 notes that were in circulation on May 19, 2023, have been returned.
