world desk:
The purpose of celebrating World Sparrow Day across the world on 20 March is to save the endangered species of sparrow bird. Due to indiscriminate cutting of trees, modern urbanization and ever-increasing pollution, the sparrow bird has reached the verge of extinction. The theme of this day has remained the same for the last few years, ‘I Love Sparrows’. The theme is inspired by the dream of making this world a better place for birds, animals and humans and their conservation. There was a time when the chirping sound of sparrows used to wake people up, but now it is not so. This is a bird that likes to be around humans. The continuous decline in the number of sparrows is a warning about the impact pollution and radiation are having on nature and humans. The sparrow is one of the most common and oldest bird species on Earth. These small, adorable and peaceful birds have been a part of our lives for centuries and play an important role in maintaining the balance in nature.
