Sahitya Award: K Vaishali honoured Sahitya Akademi Youth Awards for English

The executive board meeting chaired by Sahitya Akademi president Madhav Kaushik approved the selection of 23 writers.  K Vaishali for her memoir ‘Homeless: Growing Up Lesbian and Dyslexic in India’, while Gaurav Pandey will be given the prestigious Youth Award for his collection of poems ‘Smritiyon Ke Bich Ghiri Hai Prithvi’.  The Youth Award was given for 10 poetry books, seven story collections, two articles and a collection of essays, a novel, a ghazal book and a memoir.  

Rani Baro (Bodo) and Heena Choudhury (Dogri).  Besides them, Rinku Rathore (Gujarati), Shruti BR (Kannada), Mohammed Ashraf Zia (Kashmiri), Advait Salgaonkar (Konkani), Rinki Jha Rishika (Maithili) and Shyamkrishnan R (Malayalam) are also among the winners.  Waikhom Chingkhinganba (Manipuri), Devidas Saudagar (Marathi), Suraj Chapagain (Nepali), Sanjay Kumar Panda (Oriya), Randhir (Punjabi) and Sonali Sutar (Rajasthani) have also been selected for the Youth Award.  Other winners are Anjan Karmakar (Santhali), Geeta Pradeep Rupani (Sindhi), Lokesh Raghuraman (Tamil), Ramesh Karthik Nayak (Telugu) and Javed Amber Misbahi (Urdu).
