Led by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government has launched G-SAFL (Gujarat Livelihood Enhancement Scheme for Antyodaya Families), which aims to strengthen the livelihoods of Antyodaya families (disadvantaged families), empower women and promote economic self-reliance, the CMO said in a statement. The initiative is expected to uplift 50,000 Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) cardholder families in 25 talukas of 10 districts of Gujarat over the next five years. "Implemented by Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited (Rural Development Department), G-SAFL provides holistic support encompassing livelihood opportunities, financial inclusion and social development. Beyond financial assistance, the scheme provides skill training and necessary guidance to beneficiaries, enabling them to break the cycle of extreme poverty and embrace sustainable economic development," the statement said. G-SAFL is structured around four key pillars: Social Security, which is meant to facilitate access to government welfare schemes and strengthen social security;  Livelihood creation, to provide grants to generate wealth and establish multiple income sources; financial inclusion, by enabling beneficiaries to connect with banks, savings programmes, credit facilities and insurance services; social development and empowerment, to enhance life skills through training programmes and encourage active participation in self-help groups.
