The central government has made a major bureaucratic reshuffle and appointed Lav Agarwal as the head of DGFT

Senior bureaucrat Lav Agarwal was appointed as the head of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in a major bureaucratic reshuffle carried out by the central government on Tuesday. Lav Agarwal is a 1996 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He is currently Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

An order issued by the Personnel Ministry stated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Agarwal's appointment as Director General of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation, will be the Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India (FCI). He will replace the current Chairman, Ashutosh Agnihotri, who has now been appointed Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
