Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the Handloom Conference-Manthan at Dr. Ambedkar International Center, Janpath in New Delhi. On this occasion, he launched the Handloom Weavers e-identity portal and online module for Handloom Awards. The Union Minister said that the handloom sector should target the market by combining tradition, innovative designs and strategies with modernity.
Giriraj Singh appealed to all stakeholders in the “Handloom Conclave: Manthan” to make the handloom sector 'self-reliant' by changing the traditional mindset and empower handloom weavers through innovative technological solutions and showcase handloom products as a brand in the global market.Union Minister Giriraj Singh has said that there is a need to create widespread awareness about the sustainable and eco-friendly nature of handloom products, natural dyeing, benefits of organic fibers and the uniqueness of the design of handloom products to target the emerging e-commerce market. He said that e-commerce is expected to become a $325 billion market by the year 2030.
