The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed legendary sprinter Usain Bolt as the brand ambassador for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup to be played in West Indies and USA from June 1 to 29. Born in Jamaica, Bolt made history at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he won the 100m, 200m and 4 times 100m in world record times. Bolt currently holds world records in the 100m, 200m and 4 times 100m with times of 9.58 seconds, 19.19 seconds and 36.84 seconds respectively. Bolt is excited about the World Cup coming home and his new role.
“I am thrilled to be the ambassador for the upcoming ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup,” Bolt said in a statement from the ICC. The Caribbean is a part of cricket life, there has always been a special place in my heart for the game.
