Varanasi's Tiranga Barfi and Dhalua Murti Metalworks get GI tags

On April 16, 2024, Varanasi's Tiranga Barfi, which is associated with India's independence, has been given GI product status.  Also another product of Varanasi, Dhalua Murti Dhatu Shilpa (Metal Casting Craft) has been included in the GI category.  On April 16, 2024, the Geographical Indications (GI) Registry Office in Chennai has released the list of new products.
During the country's independence movement, the tirangi  barfi was invented for the intelligence meetings of the revolutionaries and the exchange of secret information.
 The casting craft, which is made in Kashipura Mohalla of Benares, has gained recognition in various regions across the country.  The idols made here are famous like Maa Annapurna, Lakshmi-Ganesh, Durgaji, Hanuman etc.  Also, various types of instruments, carved bells, thrones, achamani panchpatras and coin cast seals have been famous.
