The country's renowned constitutional expert and jurist Fali S Nariman passed away on Wednesday. He was 95 years old. He practiced law for about 75 years, during which he appeared in many big cases. He was Additional Solicitor General during Indira Gandhi's regime but he resigned from the post due to the imposition of Emergency. He had written in his book that he flourished and lived his life in secular India and by the grace of God, he would like to breathe his last in secular India only.
Veteran constitutional lawyer Fali S Nariman has appeared in many important cases in the Supreme Court in his legal career spanning over 70 years. These include the NJAC case for appointment of judges, AOR Association case, TMA Pai case (minority rights case under Article 30), etc. Nariman was made the Additional Solicitor General of India in May 1972 but resigned from the post after Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency in 1975.
