Jammu Kashmir Electric Train: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first electric train in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. During this period, he started many development projects worth Rs 32,000 crore related to education, railway and aviation sectors. From Jammu, PM also launched projects worth Rs 13,500 crore across the country. IIT, IIM and Central University are also included in these projects. On this occasion, the Prime Minister distributed appointment letters to about 1,500 newly recruited government employees of Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, the PM flagged off two trains.
Among the railway projects inaugurated by Modi is the railway line of Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan (48 km). The railway line includes Baramulla-Srinagar-Banihal-Sangaldan section (185.66 km). He also introduced the first electric train in the valley and the train service between Sangaldan and Baramulla stations. The opening of Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan section will provide great convenience to the passengers. With the opening of the new railway route, the cultural heritage of the valley can be exchanged with other states. Till now diesel trains are operated on the 138 km long Baramulla-Banihal section.
