Every year 25 January is celebrated as National Voters' Day. Its objective is to make citizens aware to use their voting rights. The Election Commission organizes various programs to make citizens aware. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar held a press conference on the eve of Voters' Day. During this, he said that political parties should not engage in divisive discussions but should engage in motivating discussions.
In fact, the Election Commission of India was established on 25 January 1950, after which the Constitution came into force in the country on 26 January. Earlier this day was only remembered, but from the year 2011 it started being celebrated as a day. The then President Pratibha Patil celebrated National Voters' Day for the first time on 25 January in 2011. Since then, National Voter's Day is celebrated every year on 25 January across the country.
