Sachin Tendulkar, a resident of Mumbai, learned the art of cricket at Wankhede Stadium.  It was on this ground that Sachin made his Ranji Trophy debut.  Sachin had scored a century in that match.  Sachin was 15 years old at the time of his debut match.  When Sachin retired in 2013, he had attained the status of God of Cricket.  Sachin also played the last match of his career against West Indies at this Wankhede Stadium.  At the time of retirement, he had the most runs as well as the most centuries in ODI and Test cricket.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday unveiled a grand and gleaming bronze statue of legend cricketer Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede Stadium.
