Teacher's Day 2023: Teacher's Day is celebrated every year on 5 September in India to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the country's first Vice President and former President, scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna awardee. Radhakrishnan was born on this day in 1888.
When Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan took over as the second President of India in 1962, his students approached him to seek permission to celebrate 5 September as a special day. On which he requested the students to celebrate September 5 as Teachers' Day to tell the invaluable contribution of teachers in the society. Dr. Radhakrishnan once said that "teachers should be the best minds in the country."
5th September is celebrated as Teachers' Day in schools, colleges, universities and educational institutions. Students also organize various programs to express their appreciation towards their beloved teachers. On this day, in many schools, students themselves become teachers. They also remember those teachers who have left the school.
