Birthday of Bhogeswar Baruah, first Arjuna Award winner of Assam. His birthday is celebrated as 'Abhiruchi Sports Day' in Assam every year in honor of the athlete.
The Sports Day is celebrated on 3rd September every year since 1984 .The day was initiated by Balendra Mohan Chakraborty, editor of an Assamese sports magazine called Abhiruchi. The day is celebrated by organizing long distance races and cultural programs in various parts of Assam and honoring athletes who have achieved success in various sports.
