History of ISRO: After the launch of the Russian satellite Sputnik, Vikram Sarabhai had talked about setting up an Indian Space Research Centre.  About 61 years ago, in 1962, the government formed the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) at the behest of the country's greatest scientist, Vikram Sarabhai.

 How was ISRO established?

 On 15 August 1969, INCOSPAR was renamed the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).  Vikram Sarabhai founded ISRO.  After the establishment of the Department of Space in 1972, ISRO was brought under this department.
The main objective of ISRO is to develop and use space technology for various national needs.  To achieve this objective, ISRO has provided communications, television broadcasting and meteorological services, resource monitoring and management;  Established major space systems for space-based navigation services.  ISRO has launched the Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV, to place the satellites in the required orbits.  and G.S.L.V.  have developed.  It reports directly to the Prime Minister of the country.
