First Industry Ratna Award to industrialist Ratan Tata

Veteran industrialist and former Chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Tata has been conferred the 'Udyog Ratna' award by the Maharashtra government.  Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar presented the first 'Udyog Ratna' award to 85-year-old Ratan Tata at his residence in Colaba, south Mumbai.  The award included a shawl, a citation and a souvenir from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
After honoring Ratan Tata, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that conferring Ratan Tata as 'Udyog Ratna' has enhanced the prestige of the award.  He said that the contribution of Tata Group in all sectors is huge and Tata is a symbol of trust.  After receiving the award, 85-year-old Ratan Tata thanked everyone.  The Maharashtra government had announced the Maharashtra Udyog Ratna award to Ratan Tata on July28.
