INS Vindhyagiri: The journey of warship 'Vindhyagiri' begins

INS Vindhyagiri: President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the sixth ship of the Indian Navy's Project 17A 'Vindhyagiri' in Kolkata.  On the occasion, President Murmu said that he was pleased to be here on the occasion of the launch of INS Vindhyagiri.  The launch of Vindhyagiri marks a step forward in enhancing India's maritime capabilities.
  It is also a step towards achieving the goal of self-reliant India through indigenous shipbuilding.  Project 17A, of which Vindhyagiri is a part, demonstrates our commitment to self-reliance and technological advancement.  This project demonstrates indigenous innovation to develop cutting-edge technology.
Murmu said , “Today, India is the fifth largest economy in the world and we are striving to become the third largest economy in the near future.  A growing economy means greater volumes of trade and a larger proportion of our merchandise transits by sea highlighting the importance of the oceans to our development and well-being."
 There are many aspects of security in the Indian Ocean region and the greater Indo-Pacific and the Navy has to be always proactive to deal with security threats.
