Chandrayaan 3 vs Luna 25: India's Chandrayaan-3 mission is under the watchful eye of the entire world.  Since ISRO launched Chandrayaan-3 on July 14, its every movement has been closely monitored.  Russia has also launched its moon mission Luna-25.  It was launched on August 11, about a month after India's Chandrayaan-3.  Both spacecraft are now racing to land on the moon's south pole.  Chandrayaan-3 is expected to make a soft landing on the lunar surface on August 23.  However, despite the late launch, the Russian mission may soon achieve this feat.  Luna 25 is Russia's first lunar mission in nearly 50 years.
Roscosmos has outlined an ambitious timeline for Luna-25, according to Reuters .  It will then take five days to reach lunar orbit and then five to seven days to land on the lunar surface.  The New York Times reports that Luna-25 will reach the moon and enter orbit on August 16, and then attempt to land on the surface by August 21 .
